HC Deb 30 November 1970 vol 807 c307W
Mr. Body

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer by what percentage the value of silver coined in England has increased from the year 1833 to the year 1969.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

The face value of all white coin struck in 1969 was £128.3 million, including £82.05 million in 50p coin. In 1833 silver coins with a face value of £145 were struck, but this was not typical of the period. Between 1816 and 1833 the face value of silver coin struck was £9.2 million.
