HC Deb 30 November 1970 vol 807 c293W
137. Mr. Kelley

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will take steps to stop the sale of young pony flesh as veal meat.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

It is an offence under the Food and Drugs Act, 1955 to supply horse flesh for human consumption to a purchaser who has not asked for it, and to sell any food under a false or misleading label.

It is also an offence under the Trade Descriptions Act, 1968 to apply a false description to any goods.
