Mr. Deakins

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he intends that the bacon market sharing understanding shall continue in operation during the transition period for agriculture before the United Kingdom becomes a full member of the European Economic Community;

(2) if he intends that the Bacon Stabilisation Scheme shall continue in operation during the transition period for agriculture before the United Kingdom becomes a full member of the European Economic Community.

Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the present degree of support by the European Economic Community in relation to its fishing industry, as compared with its agricultural policy; and if he will issue his assessment of that policy.

As the Community's common fisheries policy is not due to come into effect till February and various detailed provisions have yet to be settled, the degree of support likely to be involved in practice cannot yet be assessed.
