HC Deb 27 November 1970 vol 807 c241W
Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many hospitals in Great Britain provide treatment for sufferers from migraine.

Mr. Alison

Any hospital with appropriate consultant medical staff is able to provide treatment for migraine. In addition, six hospitals in England are known to have special clinics. Services in Scotland and Wales are the responsibility of my right hon. Friends.

Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many people are known to suffer from migraine.

Mr. Alison

There are no national statistics, but I am advised that medical opinion would accept that migraine affects between 3 and 8 per cent. of the population.
