HC Deb 27 November 1970 vol 807 cc239-40W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what action he has now taken to remind local authorities and others concerned of the need to take precautionary action against the dangers of hypothermia among elderly persons; and if he will give details of the advice he has given.

Sir K. Joseph

I am sending the hon. Member a copy of Circular 19/70, which was issued on 11th November. This drew attention to the precautionary measures which can be taken by local authority and other medical staff, and by local authority social services departments and voluntary organisations, and to instructions which have been given to officers of the Supplementary Benefits Commission.
