Mr. Concannon

asked the Minister of State for Defence what reasons are acceptable to him as grounds for members of the Armed Forces not wishing to serve in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

In general terms, none. Members of the Armed Forces accept at the time of joining that they must be prepared to serve anywhere at any time.

Mr. Concannon

asked the Minister of State for Defence what machinery there is for members of the Armed Forces to indicate their reasons for not wishing to serve in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Ian Gilmour
