HC Deb 26 November 1970 vol 807 c221W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if his assessment of the fall in food prices took into account the seasonal fall in such prices during the summer months.

Mr. Prior

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave on 27th October to my hon. Friend the Member for Worcestershire, South (Sir G. Nabarro) and others. After quoting the statistics published by the Department of Employment which showed a fall in the Retail Food Price Index between 16th June and 22nd September, I made it clear in reply to a supplementary question from the hon. Member for Bishop Auckland (Mr. Boyden) that a fall in the Index is usual at this time of the year for seasonal reasons.—[Vol. 805. c. 10–11.]
