HC Deb 26 November 1970 vol 807 c219W
Mr. Hayhoe

asked the Prime Minister whether he will clarify the precise division of responsibilities between the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and the Secretary of State for the Environment for the control and reduction of the nuisance created by aircraft noise.

The Prime Minister

Responsibility for the control of aircraft noise rests with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry as part of his general civil aviation responsibilities. In addition to his direct responsibilities for the control of certain kinds of pollution, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment has general responsibility for co-ordinating policy on environmental questions.
