74. Mr. Fox

Mr. Peyton

Losses shown in the annual accounts were £1.9 million for the National Freight Corporation, £440,000 for the British Transport Docks Board and £56,000 for the British Waterways Board. In addition, the National Freight Corporation received £17 million in grants to meet losses on its freight sundries undertaking and British Waterways Board £1.5 million chiefly to maintain its amenity waterways. British Railways showed a surplus of £14.7 million after receiving grants totalling £76.1 million. The National Bus Company, the Scottish Transport Group and the Transport Holding Company all showed surpluses.
