HC Deb 25 November 1970 vol 807 c180W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in view of the fact that alone of all employed persons Members of Parliament have not had an increase in their salaries since 1964 and the fact that the Government have refused to have the question investigated by an impartial body, by how much Members' salaries would rise if present Civil Service rates were applied to Members of Parliament.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

I regret that it is not possible to make a comparison in such general terms.
