HC Deb 25 November 1970 vol 807 c164W
132. Mr. Bishop

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will give an estimate of the number of outbreaks of fowl pest and of birds lost in Nottinghamshire; and if he will estimate the effect of the national outbreak on poultry prices.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

From the beginning of the present epidemic to 23rd November, there have been 17 outbreaks of fowl pest in Nottinghamshire, involving just over 100,000 birds. No information is available on the number of birds lost as a result of the disease.

I regret that it is not possible to assess the effect of the epidemic on poultry prices.
