asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many men were registered as in-shore fishermen, trawlermen, other fishermen and merchant navymen, normally resident in the county of Banff, in each of the last five years to the nearest convenient date.

This Department does not collect statistics of the numbers employed in these occupations. The numbers of wholly unemployed men who were registered at the Banff, Buckie and Keith Employment Exchanges for work as fishermen or as other members of ships' crews were as follows:

Fishermen (deep sea, inshore, etc.) Seamen, deck hands, firemen and other members of ships' crews (not in fishing industry)
