HC Deb 25 November 1970 vol 807 cc172-3W
Mr. Clinton Davis

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she intends to recommend nationally administered art galleries and museums to raise charges for ancillary services; which ancillary services will be so affected; and if she will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of Government circulars which have been sent to the directors of such galleries and museums.

Mrs. Thatcher

Charges are made by the museums and galleries for the sale of publications, reproductions, photographs, and photocopies, and fees are charged for facilities granted to photographers, filmmakers, publishers and the like. Museums are periodically reminded to keep charges in line with costs. My noble Friend the Paymaster-General has no intention of asking for any special review of the charges.
