HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 c83W
Mr. Alexander Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has for improvements, alterations, and lighting in Whistleberry Road, between Blantyre and Hamilton; and if he will give full details of the project planned for, estimated costs, and approximate starting date.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

I have authorised Lanark County Council to prepare a scheme, estimated to cost £850,000, to extend the East Kilbride Expressway by incorporating much of Whistleberry Road. A starting date will be determined when preparation is more advanced.

Meanwhile I have given borrowing consent to enable the County Council and Hamilton Town Council to extend footpaths and lighting on the existing road early in 1971.
