§ Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he will make a statement on the redundancies recently declared at Bailey and Whites Limited and other industries in the Portsmouth area with particular reference to arrangements being made by his Department to find alternative employment for those affected.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithA job team from the Portsmouth Employment Exchange is at the premises of Bailey and White Limited giving advice and help to the 300 employees who are to lose their jobs when the firm closes on 18th December and special approaches are being made on their behalf to other employers in the area. This or other appropriate similar action is taken in respect of other redundancies notified in the area.
