HL Deb 24 November 1970 vol 313 c113WA
LORD BEAUMONT OF WHITLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in common with most other countries, when they introduce charges for admission to national museums and galleries they will also, in common with most other countries, allow free entry on at least one day a week during the weekend.

THE PAYMASTER GENERAL (VISCOUNT ECCLES)

During the consultations now taking place with the museums and galleries the question of free admission or reduced charges on certain days will be carefully explored. Arrangements will need to take account of the particular circumstances of each institution.
