HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 cc72-3W
Mr. Bray

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether, in view of his decision to confirm the recommendation of the Manchester Regional Hospital Board to close the Aitken Hospital at Ramsbottom, he will take steps to ensure that any future hospital building made necessary by this decision or by any local increase in requirement will be effected by either building a new hospital in Rossendale or by major extensions to the Rossendale General Hospital.

Mr. Alison

New hospital building is not required as the result of my right hon. Friend's decision. If any increase in the provision of hospital services for this area became necessary it would be for the Manchester Regional Hospital Board to consider where it should be made and with what priority.
