HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 cc78-9W
Mr. Skeffington

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many of the public visited plantations of the Forestry Commission in each of the years 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968 and 1969.

Mr. Anthony Stodart

The number of visitors to the Commission's forests can only be roughly estimated, since over such a wide area of open access a census is not practicable.

The Forestry Commission estimates that over 15 million visits by the public were made to its forests in the year ended 31st March, 1970. No estimates were made annually in earlier years.
