HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 c87W
Mr. Mark Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if the overall price index figure for food is affected by the weight attached to a range of commodities subject to marked seasonal variation.

Mr. Bryan

Yes. The prices of home-killed lamb, fresh and smoked fish, eggs, fresh vegetables and fresh fruit show significant seasonal variations. The aggregate weight of these items is about 18 per cent. of the weight for all food.
