HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 cc58-9W
36. Mr. Dell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the total value of the differential investment incentives in favour of the development areas in 1974; and how that is made up as between free depreciation, 60 per cent. depreciation in the first year, grants under the Local Employment Acts, loans under the Local Employment Acts and any other elements.

Mr. Maurice Macmillan

Subject to the uncertainties involved in forecasting investment expenditure so far ahead, the value in 1974–75 of these differential incentives is estimated to be of the order of £110 million, including additional assistance under the Local Employment Acts which is expected to build up by that year to about £25 million. These estimates are at 1970 prices.
