HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 c92W
Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many charter flights have been cancelled at the intervention of his Department in the years 1960–70; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Noble

In the past 12 months, permission for 10 flights by foreign airlines has been refused under Article 73 of the Air Navigation Order 1970 on grounds of non-compliance with the conditions for group charter services, and one permit has been revoked. In the same period, 25 flights about which the Department had made inquiries were cancelled by United Kingdom airlines or the charterer. Comparable information for earlier periods is not available.
