asked the Minister for the Civil Service what change in the number of civil servants will take place as the result of the reorganisation of Government Departments, the abolition of the Ministry of Technology, and the abolition of the National Board for Prices and Incomes.

The changes announced in Cmnd. 4506 open the way to a reduction and rationalisation of functions, with a consequential reduction in the demand for Civil Service manpower.

The abolition of the National Board for Prices and Incomes will allow a staff saving of over 150 by 1st April, 1971.
