HC Deb 20 November 1970 vol 806 c506W
Mr. Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many schools, respectively, in the Wrexham constituency, Denbighshire and in Flintshire use the Welsh language as their first language for teaching.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The number of "Ysgolion Cymraeg" (Welsh Schools or Departments in predominantly English-speaking areas where Welsh is the main medium of instruction) in Wrexham, Denbighshire and Flintshire are respectively two, four and seven. The medium of instruction in other schools and departments in these areas varies with the linguistic character of each school's catchment area and statistics are not available.
