§ Dr. Vaughanasked the Secretary of State for the Environment in view of the number of accidents on the Basingstoke road into Reading, culminating in a recent fatal accident to a small boy, and the fact that traffic will increase still further when it becomes a feeder road to the M4 motorway, if he will advance the improvements to this road and also consider increasing the total length of road to be improved.
§ Mr. Michael HeseltineReading County Borough Council, the highway authority, are preparing a scheme for dualling this road from the M4 interchange to Hartland Road. It is too early to forecast when this could be included in the road programme. I understand that the Council are considering a later improvement towards the north.
