HC Deb 18 November 1970 vol 806 c400W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Minister of Aviation Supply what research is being carried out within his Department on the effects of supersonic aircraft such as Concorde at stratospheric levels, with particular reference to the lasting adverse effects of engine emissions.

Mr. Corfield

Research into the effect of pollution on the upper atmosphere is undertaken by the Meteorogical Office. The available evidence indicates that exhaust gases from supersonic aircraft are unlikely to have any measurable effect on global temperature or climate.
