§ Mr. Leadbitterasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has to protect tenants from fire risks in multi-accommodated properties; and what measures he proposes to give local authorities and fire service inspectors greater powers to enforce standards in such properties that will reduce fire risk to 405W a minimum, provide adequate alarm facilities, and easy escape equipment.
§ Mr. ChannonHousing authorities already have power under the Housing Acts to require provision of means of escape from fire in houses in multiple occupation or closure of part of such a house if the provision of means to escape should prove too expensive. My right hon. Friend has no proposals for further measures at present.
