HC Deb 18 November 1970 vol 806 cc438-9W
Sir R. Russell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many drivers of light vans have been prosecuted for exceeding the speed limit of 40 miles per hour in the Metropolitan Police district since the decision to increase the limit to 50 miles per hour was announced.

Separate statistics for light vans are not available. Between 1st April, 1969 (shortly after the announcement referred to) and 30th June, 1970, proceedings were taken in 275 cases in respect of goods vehicles exceeding the limit.
