asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many persons, who have been committed for trial, or who have elected to go for trial, at the Inner London Sessions, have been waiting for their cases to be heard:

  1. (1) for 1 to 6 months;
  2. (2) for 6 to 12 months;
  3. (3) for more than 12 months.

On November 6, 1970, the following were the numbers of persons who had been committed for trial or who had elected to go for trial at Inner London Quarter Sessions and the length of time they had been waiting for their cases to be heard:

  • 699 persons awaiting trial for 1 to 6 months;
  • 718 persons awaiting trial for 6 to 12 months;
  • 21 persons awaiting trial for more than 12 months.
