HC Deb 16 November 1970 vol 806 c309W
Mr. Blaker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress he is making in discussions with the Government of Argentina about the promotion of free communications in both directions between that country and the Falkland Islands.

Mr. Godber

As I told the House on 20th July, talks were held in London between Argentine and British delegations, the latter including participants from the Falkland Islands, between 14th and 23rd July. The talks were confidential andad referendum to Governments but there was agreement in principle that there appeared to be considerable scope for the promotion of free communications and that every effort should be made to try to reach agreement on practical measures to that end.—[Vol. 804, c. 28.]
