§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why it took him until 2nd November to send a formal acknowledgement to the communication addressed to him on 26th October by the hon. Member for West Ham, North, enclosing a letter from the Borough Librarian of the London Borough of Newham concerning proposed library charges; and if he will see that such formal communications are despatched more speedily in the future.

Any inconvenience which may have been caused by the delay in sending a formal acknowledgement until after the intervening weekend is nevertheless regretted.
