HC Deb 13 November 1970 vol 806 cc281-2W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many general practitioners are in contractual service with the London Executive Council; and what is the number of these who have registered deputising arrangements for night calls and weekends.

Mr. Alison

1,976 doctors are in contract with Inner London Executive Council to provide full general medical services, and all of them have arrangements, notified to the executive council, for deputies to act for them when they are absent from their practices.

The council has given consent to 419 doctors to use a deputising service for some nights and weekends. Consent to use a service on every night and weekend is given only on exceptional grounds, at present to 11 doctors.
