HC Deb 12 November 1970 vol 806 cc253-4W
Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much of the extra £110 million which Her Majesty's Government is making available for health and welfare services will be allocated to Wales; and on which particular projects it will be spent.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The Welsh share is £5½ million. £1 million for 1971–72 and £1½ million in each of the three succeeding years. I propose to devote the money to similar purposes to those mentioned by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services in his statement yesterday. There will be particular emphasis on the faster improvement of the services for mental handicap, mental illness and the elderly.
