§ Mr. Dudley SmithUnemployment amongst registered disabled persons has remained at a high level during 1970. We are continuing our efforts to improve the service we offer and to encourage employers to increase the opportunities available to disabled persons.

§ Mr. Dudley SmithThe disablement resettlement officer service has recently been re-organised and substantially strengthened. Arrangements are being made for increased inspection of the records of employers who have a statutory obligation to employ registered disabled people. For the more seriously disabled, the policy of providing additional employment wherever necessary and practicable will be continued. Rehabilitation and craft training facilities will be maintained at an appropriate level. In addition, plans are now being formulated for the introduction of a new scheme of training in limited skills for the unemployed, including disabled people.
