§ Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what new steps he now proposes to deal with the teacher shortage in Scotland.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellBy next session, the number of primary teachers forecast to be available should match the requirements of the schools although there may be local difficulties. In secondary schools, a shortage will persist and no single measure is likely to provide a remedy. As an indication of the steps that are being taken, I am sending the hon. Gentleman a copy of Circular 762 issued in July of this year.
