asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what reports he has called for from chief constables regarding the withdrawal of instruction in road safety in schools and elsewhere, as to how many authorities are withdrawing this service, and as to what will be the pattern for future instruction

There has been a good deal of misunderstanding about the police contribution to road safety instruction in schools. Arrangements in the Metropolitan Police District are to be altered in July, but the police contribution here is not being withdrawn, and I am not aware of any proposal for it to be withdrawn in any other police force.
