Mr. Hardy

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the proposed reduction in income tax in 1971–72 for a man with an average income of £19 10s. per week and a man with a taxable income of £6,500 per annum, assuming that each has a wife and two children under the age of 16 years.

£3 8s. and £117, assuming in both cases that the income is wholly earned and includes family allowance for one child and that the children are under 11.
