HC Deb 10 November 1970 vol 806 c78W
59. Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the size of the social security payment which is judged to have been fraudulently claimed, but below which it is not regarded as profitable for the Department of Social Services to proceed against the claimant.

Mr. Dean

The amount involved in a suspected fraud may be one factor in considering proceedings, but no sum is fixed as a minimum for a criminal prosecution.
