Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales in respect of how many workers in Wales is Regional Employment Premium paid.

I have been asked to reply. In the last quarter of the current financial year for which figures are available, Regional Employment Premium was paid in respect of 202,000 workers in the Welsh development area.

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the total sum currently paid to employers in Wales in respect of Regional Employment Premium.

Mr. Bryan

I have been asked to reply. The total sum paid in respect of Regional Employment Premium in the Welsh development area in the first two quarters of the current financial year is £6.7 million.
