HC Deb 06 November 1970 vol 805 c490W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his policy towards the future use of desalination plants in Wales as a means of supplementing water conservation by other more conventional means and towards possible desalination plants on the Dee Estuary; if he regards desalination methods as an extra stage of conventional sewage treatment; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Thomas

On these matters I am advised by the Water Resources Board. It is expected that the Board will take account of the possible rôle of desalination in the study it is now carrying out of the water demands and resources of Wales and the Midlands, the report on which is to be published next year.
