HC Deb 05 November 1970 vol 805 c424W
64. Mr. Golding

asked the Minister of State for Defence what redundancy is expected at Royal Ordnance Factory, Radway Green; and what steps he intends to take to avoid hardship created by such redundancy.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

A redundancy of up to 224 industrial employees has been announced. However, some men have already left to take up other work and it is now expected that only about 110 employees will be discharged initially. It may also prove necessary to discharge a further 67 by 1st April, 1971.

Most of those concerned are short-service staff but terminal grants will be payable to those who qualify by age and service. I will do all I can, in conjunction with the Department of Employment, to help those made redundant to find other work.
