HC Deb 05 November 1970 vol 805 c423W
Earl of Dalkeith

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what financial assistance she proposes to make available through the Medical Research Council to the Lawson Tait Medical and Scientific Research Trust, with a view to promoting research without making use of live animals.

Mrs. Thatcher

It is not the policy of the Government or the Medical Research Council to give direct financial assistance to voluntary bodies as such. The Council is, however, always willing to consider applications for the support of specific research projects on their scientific merit, including any recommended by the Lawson Tait Medical and Scientific Research Trust.
