§ 62. Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what financial help is available from his Department to the London Borough of Brent 357W to enable the building of housing accommodation for 366 families needed for slum clearance on the site at St. Raphaels Way owned by British Rail and surplus to their needs since 1967.
§ Mr. ChannonSubsidy should be payable under the 1967 Act and my right hon. Friend's proposals for new subsidy arrangements will place authorities in London in a better position to cope with their housing problems. It is for the London Borough of Brent to decide what sites it needs for its housing programme.
§ 68. Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the total of loan sanction for the restructuring of the Curzon Crescent Estate given to the London Borough of Brent; when phase one is due to be completed; and if agreement has yet been reached on declaring this scheme a part of a general improvement area.
§ Mr. ChannonThe council has not yet applied for loan sanction but agreement in principle has been given to work estimated to cost some £1½ million. Only the council itself can give a firm estimate of the date it hopes to complete Phase 1. It is the council too which declares general improvement areas, the Minister's consent not being required.
