§ 52. Mr. Orbachasked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) what proposals he has received from the Stockport Corporation as to their housing programme over the next five years;
(2) whether he will give his Department's estimate of the number of housing units required in the area of the Stockport Corporation in order to cover the clearance of slum dwellings and overcrowding and estimated increase in population.
§ Mr. ChannonIt is for the council to decide in the first instance what the housing needs of its area are and on the measures necessary to meet them. The Department expects to hear from the council in the near future about their future intentions.
