asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has for ensuring that local authorities match their housing programmes to the needs of their communities.

As indicated in his Circular to local housing authorities of 30th June, my right hon. Friend expects authorities suffering from slums and other housing pressures to take vigorous action to meet the needs of those who are homeless or inadequately housed.
