HL Deb 04 November 1970 vol 312 cc448-50WA
LORD KILLEARN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have anything to add to the information given by Lord Beswick on November 12, 1969 concerning the position of British property in Egypt.

EARL JELLICOE

During the last year there have been more releases, and transfers of sterling to the United Kingdom where the person was still entitled to a transfer under the agreements with the United Arab Republic.

Her Majesty's Government are continuing to work for the remaining property which is due for release from sequestration. We think that we can best do this by continuing to help individual owners or their agents with any individual problems which arise with the Sequestrator or other United Arab Republic authorities concerned.

House adjourned at three minutes before eight o'clock.
