§ LORD KILLEARNasked Her Majesty's Government: What form of fuel is used by the various airline operators flying into and out of London Airport and other principal airports in the United Kingdom, and whether any steps are taken to encourage airline operators to use those forms which are less likely to be lethal in the event of accident.
§ LORD DENHAMAviation gasoline is used by all piston-engined aircraft. JP4 (aviation kerosene) is used by all turbine-engined aircraft except those operated by Air Canada and the Venezuelan International Airline (V.I.A.S.A.) which use JP4 (wide-cut gasoline).
Control of the type of fuel used is a matter for the State of Registry of the 335WA aircraft. Her Majesty's Government's views on the safety advantages of the use of kerosene in turbine-engined aircraft are already well known and no 336WA further steps are considered appropriate at the present time.
House adjourned at two minutes before five o'clock.
