HC Deb 02 November 1970 vol 805 cc279-80W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what estimate he has made of the total number of persons over 80 years of age in Scotland who will be entitled to a pension under the terms of the National Insurance (Old persons' and widows' pensions and attendance allowance) Bill.

Mr. Dean

Our present estimate is that there will be rather more than 100,000 beneficiaries in the whole of Great Britain, 9.3 per cent. of the awards so far made are Scottish, so I would estimate that some 10,000 persons in Scotland will be entitled to pension.
