Mr. Marquandasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proportion of the increase in expenditure on health and welfare between 1968–69 and 1973–74, forecast in the White Paper, Public Expenditure, 1968–69 to 1973–74, Command Paper No. 4234, is expected to be due to demographic factors, what proportion to improvements in the standard of the service and what proportion to increased use of existing services.
§ Sir K. JosephImprovements in standards and increased use of the services (including increased use due to demographic changes) are so inter-related that it is not practicable to provide the analysis asked for.
