HC Deb 02 November 1970 vol 805 c278W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will consider giving free prescriptions to children over 15 years of age who continue at school, in view of the fact that financial hardship is occasioned by such children needing large numbers of prescriptions at intermittent intervals; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alison

No. Anyone aged 16 or over who would suffer financial hardship may apply for exemption. Fifteen year olds are dependants and any claim for them should be made by the head of the family. Where exemption cannot be claimed the prepayment certificate is available for those who need frequent prescriptions.
