HC Deb 29 May 1970 vol 801 cc640-1W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Minister of Technology if he will give a general direction to the Coal Board to ensure that, in view of the shortage of smokeless fuel next winter, such fuel will be transported to those areas which are smokeless zones, and that lower priority will be given to other areas.

Mr. Harold Lever:

Discussions are being held with those responsible for the distribution of solid smokeless fuel about the arrangements for distribution in the event of any tightness in supplies next winter.

Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Technology whether he will make a further statement on the situation regarding supplies of smokeless fuel in the North-West in the winter of 1970–71.

Mr. Harold Lever:

I have nothing to add to the answer my hon. Friend gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Rochdale (Mr. McCann) on 20th April.—[Vol. 800, c. 26–7.]
